About us
Our group was formed at the end of October 2001. At the present time there are about twenty five regular members, many of whom are also members of the Society for all Artists (SAA). Membership of the SAA is open to professional and amateur painters alike, and it supports many groups like ours around the country. Our members range from beginners to those who have painted for many years. We are a friendly group, and there is always lots of help and advice available. Various media are used - watercolour, oils, acrylics, pastels, pencils, pen and wash - and it is good to get first hand advice when trying something new. Since we are now on the ground floor of the Church Hall, the rent has increased. We therefore decided we need to pay £2.50 per person each week, or £20 for ten weeks in advance. This covers the increased cost of hiring the room, and refreshments etc. |

Our future plansEvery few weeks we have a professional artist to demonstrate in various media. These have included: watercolour demonstrations of skies, reflections, buildings; portraits in pencil; Pastel Painting. We are always interested to learn of any artists who would like to demonstrate to our group. We have recently been awarded a grant from "Awards for all" to enable us to buy books, videos etc. to further our knowledge of painting. We also used some of the money to fund a workshop which took place in the Shopping Mall, Hyde on 14 & 15 March 2003. See our Events page for an update on this, and for details of this year's workshop. Why not have a look at our members' paintings? |
